    Hello,

Keeping backups is one of the most important things you can do for a Minecraft server since there are many hackers out there. Not much can be done about them since Minecraft doesn't have an internalized anti-cheat system and anti-cheat plugins don't do anything against these hackers. It is just a part of hosting a server, unfortunately and every server owner has to deal with it eventually and learn the hard way if they didn't make backups. Minecraft servers are something that you HAVE to keep an eye on a daily basis, failure to do so can result in many problems. Minecraft isn't like many other online games such as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, etc as those games are extremely stable and not based on the unreliable Java language like Minecraft. Even if you didn't use plugins, Minecraft servers can still crash on their own as a result of just bugs or things users build in your world. You just have to be very active in maintaining your server and have 'admins' on your server at all times to ban any offenders when needed as there is no other way to really protect your server except by enabling a white list.
